Google has just released a nice feature, Instant Previews

I expect this to be an overall plus for SBIers because they are already doing all the bullet items that Google outlines in the post above. And we’ll track traffic stats globally before and after this launch, to follow its impact.

How important will this be? We’ll all have to play with it some to get a feel as to whether searchers will use this regularly or whether it’s a novelty that wears off. (I doubt it — it looks like nice extra info for the searcher.)

What does it mean for you? Here are two important things to focus on…

1) Your site’s overall Look And Feel. Compare it to other sites in the search results around you for keywords that find pages in your site. You don’t have to blow away the competition with design. But “plain-plain” is likely to do you some harm now, since some folks may never get a chance to read your first paragraph if they don’t like the way your site looks.

2) Your NavBar — ditto. If you never got around to dividing it up into headers, do so. You want folks to see a clean, logical organization of your content.

OK, those are my first quick thoughts on Google’s new search feature. Let me know yours.

All the best,

I like the fact that the preview doesn’t show the Google ads!
