As per usual during our southern summers, Joanna and I spent time with family and friends in New Zealand's southern lakes district. That meant buckets of fresh apricots, cherries and kayaking on the lake.

An Extra Special Celebration

In late January, we returned to Dunedin to celebrate a very special occasion, my mother's 90th birthday. We toasted her longevity with 60 guests at Glenfalloch, a lovely old homestead set in big gardens down on the Peninsula.

It was a lovely summer evening and we had Mum piped in with bagpipes. Her great-grand-daughter danced a sword dance and an Irish jig. My sisters and I sang a couple of songs in harmony for Mum. Everyone at the party ate and drank and talked. Yes, a grand time was had by all!

A Part-time Project that Keeps on Earning

Speaking about longevity, it's time for a quick update on the two SBI! sites Rupert built back in 2002. After all these years and facing new competitors by the boatloads, they're still earning a nice little income every month.

In January 2009, the two sites earned a total of $2,056, from affiliate commissions and AdSense.

That's not bad for a little part-time project where all the work is contracted out to an assistant thousands of miles away. There's no sign of a recession in those figures!

I reckon it proves what a fantastic job you do with the instruction manual, videos and SBI! forums.

Here are some recent monthly figures for the cheap-computers site. Things slowed down a bit in the first half of 2007 but have picked up again as my assistant has kept adding new articles...

SBI! Remains My Top Recommendation

After all these years, I still tell affiliates to get SBI!, not just because of its package of smart tools, but also because of the incredibly comprehensive education SBI! gives you in how to build a business online.

It's good to see that you're getting SBI! into more and more colleges and universities. That clearly illustrates how special SBI! is.

Even a Few Hours of Work Produces Results

Ken, I was thinking about how I started my SBI! sites as experiments. My main business keeps me way too busy, so these days all we do is add an occasional new page to the sites.

It's a great example of what someone can do with just a few hours a month (if that). If we had the time to really invest and push these sites with all your tools, we could multiply these results.

It's all About Perspective!

I realize that my latest income figures may not be as sensational as some of the others on the case studies site, but I feel they're good examples of what someone can earn with a very limited, low-hour effort. I sure don't mind earning an extra $2,000 per month!
