Last week, we announced a major overhaul of the Site Build

Now to give you a sneak preview of what's to come...

We're adding this feature due to the frequent request by
visitors to see sample sites built by using Site Build It!.
Which is a perfectly reasonable request, I might add.

But there's a bit of a dilemma to that request...

If we provide links OUT from the Site Build It! sales site,
we might lose visitors -- I *HATE* distracting visitors.
It's why I don't even provide a link to our own www home
page from any product site.

What's  the solution?

We came up with an exciting alternative.  We call it the...

"Sample Site Slide Show!"

Much like the Quick Tour Slide Show, the Sample Site Slide
Show will introduce visitors to a nice cross-section of SBI!
sites  -- different niche sites from SBI! owners from all
around the world.  Most importantly, it will do this without
taking them OFF the SBI! site itself.

Another WIN-WIN situation.  :-)

However, life never seems to get any easier.  We still had
to decide *which* sites we would be featuring in the Slide
Show.  It was a VERY difficult decision.

The goal was to illustrate wide range of sites and results,
as opposed to simply "THE BEST."  Some pros are doing some
fancy html, but we wanted to show TYPICAL uses of SBI! to
give a true flavor of what the average person can achieve,
while also choosing a diverse group.

Not an easy task...

So many SBI! subscribers are using SiteSell's powerful

so very, VERY well.  Boy, am I impressed!

Affiliates, consultants, small business owners...

All are building tightly focused niche sites that please

"So Why Doesn't Everyone Own a Copy?"  PART II

Last issue, I published a wonderful letter that led me to
wonder the following about MYSS! 2002...

Everyone SHOULD, of course.  It *IS* indispensable.

Well, that article caused a flood of truly inspiring and
gratifying "I agree 100%" letters.  I thought I'd print one
that comes all the way from sunny Paradise, California.
(With a name like that, I assume it's ALWAYS sunny -- and
the fact that the street address is "Azalea Lane" only makes
me greener with envy, snow still being on the ground way up
here in the Great White North!)

Prior to discovering SiteSell products, I read
how-to materials from several so-called guru's of
Internet marketing. Most of it contains
questionable information, lots of theory and
plenty of hype. By comparison, your books actually
give the reader step-by-step instruction that
translates to real value. You more than deliver...
you truly over-deliver. Every product I've

Reading Mr. Phillips letter today reminded me that
I never have taken the time to express my

Net business, I have no doubt it will grow into a
highly profitable enterprise.

Thanks, Ken.

Ultimatefatburner.com gets 75% of its traffic from the
Search Engines (SEs).  The rest comes from basic VIRAL
marketing -- friends sending an issue of its e-zine to their
friends, links, "word of mouth", endorsements from other Web
marketers, etc.  I don't spend much time actively trying to
build traffic with this type of marketing -- I find the
yield is relatively low for the time invested.

Hitting a home run through viral marketing
(like HotMail or PayPal) is like trying to
catch lightning in a bottle. The key to
"buzz" is simply to create and market a great
product -- that's what EARNS passalong!

The SEs (and I don't include the Pay-Per-Clicks here) are
Ultimatefatburner's bread and butter.  Their ability to
generate traffic effectively lets me focus 99% of my time on
building solid content for my site.  I want visitors to FIND
*and* LOVE my information.

I'm not knocking the Pay-Per-Clicks (PPCs). I
just don't consider them to be Search
Engines. They are advertising vehicles, and
useful ones.

Today, we'll gain some insights into cracking the Alexa Top
100,000 sites by checking the referrer fields of
Ultimatefatburner.com.

It's always a good idea to spend some time looking at the
referrer fields of your log files.  This lets you know
first-hand if your site is meeting SE requirements.

In my case, let's start with my Number #1 referrer...

1) Google (3000+ to Feb. 18)

Funny, I never had much luck getting any of my pages from
Ultimatefatburner.com to stick in Google's index, DESPITE
paying for a listing on LookSmart.  However, that was before
I turned Ultimatefatburner.com into a 75-page-plus content
site.  

Here's the situation... 

It wasn't until I had built 30 or so content pages that
things really started to catch some steam.  When I hit the
60-75 page mark, things sky-rocketed!  Traffic from Google
surged exponentially, pages were re-crawled often, and all
the pages continue to remain in the index.  Very satisfying!

Google is arguably the best SE on the Net, and for good
reason -- they are *extremely* picky.  Google is on record
as saying they prefer to list LARGE, CONTENT-RICH sites in
their database because these sites are most likely to
effectively fulfill a visitor's search.  My experience
certainly reinforces this policy. 
 
What's the good news in all of this?

In the grand scheme of things, 30 -- even 60 pages -- is a
relatively small number of pages to build.  But it *IS*
enough, in Google's opinion, to indicate that you and your
site are committed to providing something of VALUE to
Google's visitors.  

The key point to consider here is that until Google feels
this way about YOUR site, you're probably not going to see a
ton of traffic from them.    
 
If the prospect of building 30-60 pages seems like a
monumental task, simply approach it the way I did...

Add a page or two (or three) each weekend.  

Do it consistently.  Pretty soon you'll feel the build. And
I assure you, it feels GREAT!

Another crucial aspect of getting pages
listed in Google is your PAGE RANK. Page Rank
is Google's evaluation of the importance of
your site, based on their proprietary
algorithm which tracks incoming links.

Sites with little or no Page Rank score will
have a TOUGH time making it into Google.

Page Rank stats are reported on Google's
Toolbar.  I recommend you install it, if you
have not already done so.  For more
information...

If your site does not receive a favorable
Page Rank score, the best way to improve it
is by obtaining a directory listing at
Yahoo!, DMOZ (The Open Directory), and/or
LookSmart.  And then find THEME-SPECIFIC
directories, GOOD ONES because LINK QUALITY
counts, and get listed there.

It's all part of the Site Build It! process,
and it WORKS...

By the way, all those "link generators"?
Google has caught onto those!  Remember this,
it's like Ken says...

"If it's too easy, it probably won't work.
And if it DOES work, it won't last."

E-marketing is not about games. It's  not
about cutting corners.  It's about building a
SOLID business...

OK, after Google, who are my next highest referrers?...

1A) Google Results Supplied By Yahoo! (2000+ to Feb. 18)

Google displays back-up results for Yahoo!.  In other words,
if someone does a search at Yahoo! for a keyword that
does not bring up results from Yahoo!'s own directory
listings, Yahoo! displays results DIRECTLY from Google.  If
you're doing well on Google, and you're targeting lots of
keywords, you *could* see a large volume of traffic from the
Yahoo! partnership with Google.

I say *could* because this will ultimately
depend on whether or not Yahoo! can deliver
ITS OWN results for your most important
keywords.  If it can, Google results will NOT
be displayed by Yahoo!, and you won't receive
spillover traffic from this alliance.

2) MSN Search (1500+ to Feb. 18)

MSN Search is one POPULAR search service.  Depending on who
you talk to, it is either the MOST popular (in terms of
sheer number of visits), or second only to the mighty
Yahoo!.  Whichever way you slice its popularity status, MSN
can bring plenty of visitors to your site.

Of course, before that happens, there are a few things
you need to set up..

MSN Search displays LookSmart directory results *first* in
response to search queries made on its site.  So in order to
come up for keyword searches here, you'll need to be listed
in LookSmart.  I'd opt for the cheaper $149 listing (a
review of your site is guaranteed within 8 weeks)...

Compared to Yahoo's ANNUAL $299 fee,
LookSmart's LIFETIME $149 fee is a no-brainer.

For Ultimatefatburner.com, however, the real power of MSN
Search does not come from its LookSmart directory listing --
it generates relatively few visits.  The REAL electricity
comes from the back-up INKTOMI results.  MSN displays these
second (after the LookSmart listings).  BUT... they are
displayed FIRST when a visitor's search query doesn't return
any results from the LookSmart directory (i.e., similar to
Yahoo! and Google).

At the present time, you can still submit to Inktomi for
free through HotBot...

However, if you really want to see results, you'll need to
buy your way into the index.  With the "free" route, I found
that although I could get my home page listed without
difficulty, nothing else seemed to stick in the index for
any amount of time.  And it's all those Keyword-Focused
Content Pages that generate the traffic!

So instead, I opted for the Inktomi paid inclusion program
through PositionTech...

For a one year Inktomi subscription (with guaranteed 48 hr.
re-crawlings) the cost is $39 for the first URL, and $25 for
URLs 2 --> 1,000.  

PositionTech is the best service I have tested -- their
interface is simple and intuitive.  They report the number
of clicks each page receives (in addition to the 48 hour
refreshes) so it's very easy to evaluate the performance of
each page within the index.  At any time you wish, you may
switch a low-performing page for another with more potential
from the same domain. 

I paid to have 8 pages from Ultimatefatburner.com included
through PositionTech for a cost of $214 (1 x $39 + 7 x $25). 
So far my campaign has yielded 2,828 visits for a total cost
of about 7.5 cents per visitor.  And I still another 6
months remaining in my one year subscription!  

If the present trend continues, my $214 investment will have
yielded darn near to 6,000 visitors at a cost of less than
*4 cents* per person.  Not a bad deal!

Of course, the KEY to attaining traffic through Inktomi's
paid inclusion program is to build HIGHLY OPTIMIZED pages,
and to carefully research the keywords you are targeting.
**The simple act of paying for inclusion is NOT a guarantee
that you will attain a good ranking.**

Once you've done your homework, I highly recommend that you
submit a page or two to the Inktomi database through
PositionTech, and track how your site fares...

at any time during the subscription process.  So experiment.  If
it works well, add more pages to the index whenever you like.
Each additional page will cost you $25 but the resulting increase
in ranking and traffic will make it a worthwhile investment.

I think it's pretty cool that my 10 page Site Build It! site
(which I started well after my other sites)...

.... is ALREADY my number #3 referrer next only to Google and
MSN. It's a RINGING testimony to the PREselling power of
Site Build It!, and its ability to drive targeted traffic to
a merchant partner's site (or to your own sales site -- as

list of keywords (and keyword phrases) that show the
greatest opportunity for profit, and simply build pages
around them.  If you visit the site, you'll see the pages
are very, very simple -- text and hyperlinks ONLY.

No graphics.  No forms.  No extraneous coding.  And no
gadgets. The Search Engines LOVE simple pages.  They are
easy to crawl and rank.

#1 rule... K-I-S-S.  Plain and simple, it gets the job done
in very little time.

to perform ONLY two tasks...

o  attract targeted traffic from the SEs

o  PREsell and drive that traffic to my affiliate site
(Ultimatefatburner.com), or to my e-book sales site

AOL is what we at SiteSell call an "aggregator".  Like MSN,
AOL does not provide its *own* crawler-based results.
Instead it simply displays a BLEND of Inktomi listings,
Overture Pay-Per-Click listings, and directory listings from
The Open Directory... in its own unique way (to make it LOOK
like it's actually providing its own original results).

The traffic I receive from AOL is a direct result of having
pages listed in the Inktomi database through the paid service
at PositionTech...

Ultimatefatburner.com's Alexa rating has been constantly
surging forward over the last 6 months.  The strategies I've
used to build traffic are decidedly simple, with no tricks
or gimmicks...

Build lots of content, and pay a few bucks for listings
into the better Pay-Per-Inclusion services.  

OK, let's summarize the key points...

o  Number #1 Referrer is Google -- either directly from the
Google site, or from results supplied through its
affiliation with Yahoo!

Strategy... 

i) Build lots of content (don't forget to build clean,
optimized pages, and to research your keywords) on a steady
basis.  A page or two each weekend turns your site into
SUBSTANTIAL resource in 6 months.

ii) Download the Google Toolbar and check your Page Rank. 
If you have a very low rank (1-2) or no rank at all, you'll
probably need to get yourself a directory listing before
Google will show any interest in listing your site.


o  Number #2 Referrer is MSN Search

Strategy...

i) Carefully research keywords (using Overture's tool or
Site Build It!'s Brainstorming Function) and build
highly-optimized pages targeting the keywords showing the
BEST potential for profit.

ii) Buy a couple of listings in the Inktomi database using
PositionTech's service...

Monitor, switch  pages, and evaluate.  Repeat until you've
got the perfect combination of high-performing pages.

o  Site Build It! Site (Diet-Supplement-Review.com) gets
   results as Number #3 Referrer

The proof is in the pudding... the SBI! system is phenomenal
for pinpointing profit-building keywords, attracting
targeted traffic, and referring motivated "ready-to-buy"
visitors to your sales site, or your merchant partner's site.

What's the best part?

Even if you simply evaluate SBI! on a cost-per-click ratio
of delivering traffic (and don't include the zillion other
things it does), it is by far the clear winner.

For example, if my SBI! site (Diet-Supplement-Review.com)
continues to deliver a minimum of 1,000 click-throughs per
month to my series of sites and merchant partners, the total
for the year will be 12,000.   Factoring in my subscription
rate of $300, my cost per click for 12 months will end up to
be *less than 3 cents*.

Not bad, eh?

And, of course, it will only continue to grow.
Diet-Supplement-Review.com has only 10 pages at the present
time.  I can elevate my traffic stats MUCH higher as there
is NO limit to the number of highly optimized pages I can
build with SBI!.

That reminds me...I really need to add more pages to that
site!  So gotta go now.   :-)

Bottom line on cracking the Alexa top 100,000?

1) Devote one day a week to adding a couple of KFCPs (Keyword
Focused Content Pages) to your Web site.  

I know, I know -- it doesn't seem like much, but stick with
it, and you'll be surprised with what will happen.  


2) Make a small financial investment in your business.

Inktomi's Paid Submission is a good bet, but SiteSell's
Site Build It! is the best...
