Earlier, I mentioned the terrific tips, ideas, and lessons
that you'll find in results.sitesell.com, as well as in
case-studies.sitesell.com.  The "bottom line" moral to all 
these stories is inspiring -- anyone CAN do SBI!.

The keys are...

1) Don't rush.

2) Follow the Action Guide.

3) Be willing and ready to work -- you're building a GENUINE
business, one that is every bit as REAL as an offline one
(which could take you a year and tens of thousands of dollars
to launch, yet still not have the profit potential of SBI!).

However, I received an excellent e-mail the other day...

"Fine.  51% end up in the top 6%.  But what about the 49%?"

Great question... they, of course, do better than the
average small business site.  The great "dirty, little,
unspoken secret" of small business e-commerce is how badly
small business people do... no matter how much money they
spend to build a site.  So overall, think of the mass of
small businesses online as one big bell curve.

Remember that famous bell curve from high school/university
days?  Well, SBI! shifts the whole bell curve to the right.
*EVERYONE DOES BETTER* than they would otherwise.

Of course, some folks, a small percentage, do fail.
Mathematically, there will always be a bottom 10% or so on
that bell curve.  This group can be divided basically into
two types...

1) those who work hard but don't make it despite their best
efforts, due to a range of variables (i.e., personal events,
less than ideal theme, didn't follow process completely,
etc.).  However, for the most part, these small business
owners know how they will do things differently (and more
profitably) the next time around.  

2) "underachievers" who COULD have achieved so much more. 

It's this second type that is most disheartening and
frustrating.  They seem almost determined to...

o   shy away from taking charge of their lives

o   see the dark side in everything instead of the light

o   make the same mistakes over and over

o   be "smarter than thou," yet never succeed

o   alienate folks 

o   find fault, and yell, and whine at everything

o   seek out the get-rich-quick, somehow never realizing 
    that real business is NOT easy, that no one would sell
    them a money button if they had one.

o   see only trees, never the forest (actually some don't 
    even see the forest, just the roots of the trees since 
    their heads are always pointed downwards)

o   quit at the first sign of an obstacle or problem

o   be entitled... somehow, the world owes them a living

o   disbelieve everyone and everything.  The cynic.

o   lie and cheat their ways to success.

o   blame others, it's never their fault.

The sadness I feel when we lose these folks (either because
we fire them as clients or they leave SBI!) is profound,
because it is so completely avoidable.  All it takes is a
CHANGE IN ATTITUDE and they could be on their ways, as well.

All it takes is...

are identical to the "underachievers" in every other way,
EXCEPT they LACK the major flaws.  When they find SBI!, it's
literally like a light goes on.  Their worlds change.

Destined to Underachieve...


Some folks really are simply destined to underachieve.  Like
I said above, it almost seems like they are determined NOT
to succeed.  If you find that hard to believe, read these
two e-mails that I received from Larry Pike.  Larry is one
of the SBI! owners who receives questions from visitors to
the Site Build It! site via this Web page...

Like all our SBI! owners who answer these questions, their
job is NOT to sell.  It's to PREsell by providing the
information that visitors seek.  They answer questions,
exploring whether or not SBI! benefits match the specific

In any event, Larry recently sent me two e-mails that are 
excellent examples of people who are pre-destined to 
underachieve.  Their only hope is that they, and others 
like them, recognize themselves, have a "Eureka" moment, 
and then take the advice in the next article ("Choose").

Let's read Larry's first e-mail...

I just had to pass this story along. I just hung up from
talking to a lady that "Site Build It! won't work for."

She started by asking me how SBI! could drive traffic to her
website. That question implied to me that SBI! is one of
those "give us $400 and we will send a million visitors to
your website" deals. So I asked her a couple more questions
and sure enough, that's what she thought we did.

I took the time explain that SBI! is an integrated package
of the Action Guide, SBI! Manager, SiteBuilder with premium
hosting and a whole bunch of powerful tools that will help
her build a REAL business. I explained that Site Build It
provides the tools and knowledge needed for ordinary people
to quickly create a website that the search engines will
rank highly, thereby attracting quality traffic to their
site. But that is does not magically drive traffic.

I also told her that my SBI! site last month pulled 9,012
unique visitors from the search engines. It is a "small"
22-page site so far, and I plan to develop it out next month
to 3 or 4 times as many pages, pulling in lots more traffic.
Most site owners that are NOT using SBI would LOVE to get
9,000+ unique visitors in a month!

She said her site has 20 pages on it, too, and it doesn't
get ANY traffic. When I asked her about the 20-pages, it
turns out that it's a 1-page sales letter, "20-pages long".

The caller wanted to know HOW SBI! would get traffic to her
site. I told her about how the search engines work and how
SBI! builds pages and sites focused on keywords to get the
best possible results. She then said "I used the Site
Manager on my keywords and none of them were any good. My
site doesn't get any traffic and it doesn't show up in the
search engines."  WHOOPS!

That was my first clue that she already owned SBI!.  

She had been evasive about her name and website before, but
sometimes people just don't want to give a lot of info
up-front so I had continued with her up til this point. I
asked, "You mean you already own SBI! and you need help with
getting your site working, right?"

She said, "Yes - I built my site with SBI! and it doesn't
get any traffic." Since she had already told me it was a
1-page sales-letter site, I suspected she had skipped
reading the Action Guide. So I just had to ask her that
question before referring her to support.... 

"Did you read the Action Guide?"

Her answer was "NO! I have WAY TOO MUCH to read already and
I'm not going to waste my time reading an ebook. It's just
like every other website building tool - any idiot can
figure out how to use it - you don't have to waste your time
reading instructions -- you just put your page together and
click on the 'Build It' button."

I suggested that it would be a good idea to read at least
the Fast-Track guide, but she was way too busy for even that.
I referred her to consultants.sitesell.com and said "Bye."

Well... we have a combination of problems here.  First,
she's basically a "get rich quick" person -- there simply is
no such thing as a magic-traffic-generator.  And she
certainly had no intention to bring the only ingredients
that SBI! needs for you to succeed... Brain and Motivation.

She was also dishonest with Larry (SBIers know that Larry is
not there for "free consulting" but that is what she was
trying to get out of him), alienating him -- but to his
credit, Larry still tried to help her out.  Most people
realize that it's simply not realistic to include hours of
free business consultation with SBI!.    

And there's just a touch of "smarter than thou" in her, too. 
She apparently knows better than we do about how to use SBI!.

Yes...

SBI! reduces the amount of tedium, the complicated work, the
technical stuff by well over 95%.  But you still have to
THINK and you still have to be MOTIVATED to use the powerful
tools to execute the process that builds business so well...

CONTENT -> TRAFFIC -> PRESELL -> MONETIZATION...

But with her combination of attitudes, she's simply destined
to do the same thing over and over again...

... with the same results.  Hopefully, she'll recognize
herself in these articles, read the next one, and then
CHOOSE to succeed.

Then Larry sent me ANOTHER (at this point, I asked Larry
how he knew I was preparing an article on why people fail
and what they can do about it!  ;-)  )...

I received a phone call today from a young man who had a
question. He said,"I've been trying to make money on the
Internet for nine years now. And I've never made a dime.
What's the secret?" Something in his voice touched me, so I
decided to give him some of my time, even though I knew
where this would likely end up.

I asked him what he had tried. He said, "I have tried the
drop shipping business model. I've tried MLM, and several
other ideas. I've spent several thousand of dollars and
never made a dime."

I asked him several questions about what he LIKED to do,
what kind of jobs he had done, and if he had any hobbies. I
found out that he enjoyed boating. I suggested he could make
a web site about boating, since he would not only enjoy the
subject matter, making it fun to write about it, but also
could pay for his hobby with his business income, and create
a nice income for himself.

I laid out for him how I would build his business... 

First, use the SBI! Manager included in the Site-Build-It
program and create an outline for his new web site, ranking
those keywords relating to his hobby that have the highest
demand and profitability. Also, use the series of articles 
on MONETIZATION in the TNT HQ to plan ahead of time how 
his site would best be monetized.

Next, I would have fun gathering information about those key
word areas. I would put that information into my own words,
building the site content. After I had created 25 or 30
pages on the web site, and after building some incoming 
links, etc., and once the traffic starts to build, I would
add an e-zine and I would begin to monetize it.  

I would become a Google Partner and generate AdSense income.
I'd join the Amazon.com associate program (or perhaps a
boating book store with an affiliate program, if one
existed), and weave affiliate links into my content.

Another source of affiliate income could be from an online
boat supply store such as Boats-USA or similar. I could
talk about the best life vests to wear, the best safety
equipment to buy, and promote other products the store sells.

Ultimately, what I would do is create my own content for
sale. I would make a DVD about something like choosing a
good used motor, what to look for in a power boat that
indicates hidden damage, finding a mechanic you can trust,
and other similar information.

Ken, this would make a good monetization
article. I can get you lots of information
about producing DVDs for profit. And since
SBIers' sites are so niche-oriented, they are
perfect vehicles for selling DVDS. Please 
let me know if we should pursue this.

I told the young man he could sell 1,000 copies of that per
year from his web site once he developed the relationship
with his clients. That's a pre-tax profit $40,000 per year
from just one DVD. It might take several days to set up his
studio and record the first DVD, but after that he could
schedule production of one new DVD every two months,
producing six DVDs per year of additional information to
sell to his clients, creating an income of $200K+ per year.

In the end, it turned out that I spent way too much time
working with him since his real question was, "How can I
make money on the Internet without really thinking or doing
any work." He said "I think what you told me would work, but
I don't really want to spend all that time writing content.
Isn't there someone else's products I could just put up
online for sale?"

I instantly thought of the nine years and several thousand
dollars this young man had already spent "firing" without
doing the "Ready.... Aim...." first. I told the young man,
"No matter what you choose, you have to roll up your sleeves
and do the work! The bottom line is this.... building a
successful online business takes work. If you are not
willing to lay the foundation properly, you will not
succeed."

THE LAST WORD: The world is full of people looking to get
rich quick. They are the ones that con men make their money
from, and these folks buy these schemes over and over again.
The only ones who get rich are the scam guys, but guess what?
My guess is they work pretty hard for that money -- so not 
even THEY "get rich quick."

Larry, I simply could not say it any better.  So I won't.

At the end of the day, this "young man" simply did not want
to take charge of his life.  He was looking for others to
provide the easy answers.  The truth is...

The world does not work like that.  It just doesn't.  

He looks for one eay project after another.  He quits, I'm
sure, at the first sign that something will be hard.  And,
he has certainly established the repeated pattern of
failure, with no reason to believe that things will change.

Things can only change if the underlying ATTITUDE, the
approach to life and business, changes.  Otherwise, each new
scheme is bound to end with the same result.

And with that, I'll close this issue of the EDGE with how
the "underachiever" can break the pattern failure and open
the door to a life of progress, success, and reward...

Choose Your Attitude --> Determine *Your* RESULTS


As I said above, success can be boiled down to a matter of
ATTTUDE.  And you CAN control attitude -- that means you
have a CHOICE.  That choice starts with you and how you
approach life, people and work.  And in that vein...

I leave you with an e-mail that I received from a dear
friend.  I normally delete "stuff like this" due to a lack
of time, but I started reading and it pulled me through to
the end.  Its truth is profound -- I hope it has the same
impact on you, especially if you find yourself struggling
not just with SBI!, but with life itself.  If THAT is YOU,
make today the first day of turning it around.

Because, at the end of the day, you DO have the power to
choose.  Once you choose wisely, and ACT upon it, good
things simply flow from that starting point.

So...

------

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in
a good mood and always has something positive to say: When
someone would ask him how he was doing, He would reply, "If
I were any better, I would be twins!"

He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad
day, Michael was there telling the employee how they could
look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this
style really made me curious, so one day I went up to
Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a
positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"

Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself,
you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good
mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be
in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can
choose to be a victim or I choose to learn from it. I choose
to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me
complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I
can point out the positive side of life. I choose the
positive side of life.

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. Yes, it is,"
Michael, said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away
all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how
you react to situations. You choose how people affect your
mood. Your bottom line: "It's your choice how you live
life." I reflected on what Michael said.

Soon after, I left the company to start my own business. We
lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a
choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a
serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications
tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive
care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods
placed in his back.

I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I
asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd
be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds,
but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the
accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well
being of my soon to be born daughter," Michael replied.
"Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two
choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I
chose to live." Weren't you scared? Did you lose
consciousness?" I asked.

Michael continued, "...the paramedics were great. They kept
telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me
into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the
doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I
read, "he's a dead man". I knew I needed to take action.

"What did you do?"

I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting
questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic
to anything. "Yes, I replied." The doctors and nurses
stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep
breath and yelled...

"Gravity."

Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live.
Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also
because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that
every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after
all, is everything.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will
worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday."

You have two choices now:
1. Delete this.
2. Forward it to the people you care about.

I hope you will choose #2. I did.
