Only Google "Gets It"


Back in June, Google announced Google Sitemaps, a new and
automatic way to submit all your pages at once.  It's a
great tool, so we created a Google Sitemaps file for each
SBI! site.  This is an XML file containing information about
all the pages on your site.  We update this file every time
you add, delete or modify a page on your site.

Of course, you can still do it yourself, if you have your 
own site.  If you DO have your own site and are struggling, 
now might be a good time to consider starting over, this 
time on the right foot...

To summarize, Google Sitemaps is an extension to Web crawling.
The three steps to participate in Google Sitemaps are...

1) Generate a list of all your pages in Google's desired XML format.

2) Update that list ("Sitemap") when you add or modify a page.

3) Submit the Sitemap regularly.

It strikes me as a bit of a pain in the u-know-what to do it
manually.  Yes, you COULD do this manually, but your focus
should be on BUSINESS.

That strikes me as the place where "SBI! comes in."  :-)

So that's what we did, the first and only service like this.
You change or add a page, we create a new Sitemap.  Google
knows about it!  With SBI!'s also unique spider-tracking and
index-reporting, it gets really easy to see the results.  I
love it when the pieces come together.

What do I mean when I say "Only Google Gets It?"

Well, MSN makes you go through a graphic challenge to submit.

Ask Jeeves?  You can't submit at all.

Yahoo!?  You have to log in with a username and password.

Every engine makes it harder to submit.  Google?  They know 
the key to a great Search Engine is to LET people submit.

"People."

Google Sitemaps cannot be abused.  Only a human can place the 
XML file at the root level.  Only a human changes the file. 
Only a human... or SBI!.

So Google has the best of both worlds.  Sitemaps lets them know 
about every page with a single file.  And they can rest assured 
that they are not looking at automated bot submissions.

Clever.  It should become the standard that all engines use.

Yahoo! with a bigger index?  If you caught
that press release, forget about it.

Do a search for 100 different words and see
what you get.  Use Search It! to see how many
pages from various sites each engine has and
you'll see the truth.  Yahoo! is twisting
something weird to be "technically correct"
with their number, but that has no bearing to
what is REALLY in their index.  Try the above
searches and see.
