The Net is still young. Most folks don't
realize that most small businesses are
churning and burning. If you choose your
niche well, and SBI! helps you there, you

We just returned from 10 days in Anguilla,
and my daughter is now a full-fledged
celebrity in Anguilla, thanks to her site. It
was strange, being recognized in restaurants
by tourists, being given clothes by retailers
anxious for a plug, being interviewed on the
big talk show down there. Wild.
The point is, although it may not be quite so
obvious, you too can be a "celebrity" in your
own chosen niche. Nori is 15 years old and
only has time to do one page per week. But
that builds into a business that now
generates over $1,000 per month. If she was
an adult and had more time to put into it...

The 2004 Montreal SiteSell Seminar

The Sheer, Raw, Pure, Natural Power of C-T-P-M
Larry Pike, who is an SBI! user and advisor to folks who
have questions about SBI! before purchasing it, wrote me an
amazing e-mail the other day. Again, it's one of those
observations that are so obviously true, but everyone is so
busy running full-speed doing what everyone else is doing,
that they miss some excellent opportunities.
Well, as Mr. Jobs of Apple is fond of saying...
"Think Different."
Here's what Larry observed...

Ken,
The internet is like a diamond in the rough
to me. The more I look at it, the more
business possibilities I see. It has near
unlimited potential, but most people trying
to build a business get "stuck" on one or two
or three ideas (ex., Affiliate, sell stuff,
etc.), so they can't see the opportunities
beyond that first cut. Sure, while it is
very possible to make money with the "standard
ideas," why limit your possibilities?
When talking with potential site owners, I
often tell them "building a business is a
process, not an event." You just need to get
started and move forward. The biggest trick
is finding out which way is forward so you
don't wander in circles for 40 years! Ken's
C-T-P-M model points out the path that will
make your business profitable and save you
from pouring money down rabbit-trails. You
don't start with 'M' unless you want to
repeat the dot-bomb model of the 1990's.

And that led me to thinking (uh-oh!)...
The most common question that pours in for the SBI!
owners/advisors (via question.sitesell.com) concerns
"getting the money"...
-- shopping carts
-- merchant accounts
-- membership sites
-- selling e-goods
-- etc., etc., etc.
These people are literally worrying about collecting the
MONEY before they have a single visitor.
But...
Compare that to the "#1 Wish" that SBIers send me (I receive
and tabulate these myself). There are hardly any such
wishes and when there are some, they are pretty exotic
feature requests. Why?
Because SBIers, having followed the Action Guide and having
done it, now "get it." Get what? Simple...
If you don't get "C-T-P" right, then the best "M" in the
world doesn't make a difference. While we continue to
develop SBI! E-commerce, we also continue to research and
recommend best-of-breed in every e-commerce category.
So SBIers are happily plug-n-playing (copy-and-pasting) best
of breed e-commerce solutions for e-goods, hard goods,
shopping carts, etc., etc., etc., and building extremely
profitable businesses. They *ARE* "getting the money"...
AFTER taking care of the FOUNDATION...
C-T-P-M. And in *THAT* order.
There is no other way.
