Alexa Competitors
I've been watching a few competitors to Alexa, sites that give
you traffic estimates and other useful information. They've
been steadily getting better, adding more functionality, and,
more importantly, showing signs of lasting (although Google
Site Trends might dent that a little).
I added them to the Popularity category of Search It! since
Page Strength, which was quite useful at one point, has
changed. It is now a single number without a lot of the other
good info it used to provide. You also have to join their site,
and even then, you only get one search per day (free -- you
can pay for more). Not worth the hassle, except for extreme
data hounds.

Popularity > Google Site Trends
Read the tutorial -- do not get caught up about why one says a
site is more popular than another or why one is totally out of
whack. It's the nature of the beast called statistics. However,
if you learn to "see across" all four for any given site and if
you learn how to use some of the other data and related sites
they give you, there's a lot to be had.
Consider the whole package to be Alexa on steroids.
Once you get the hang of them, you'll see that using all 4 gives
you a pretty good idea. None of the 4 is perfect, but together...
a little human judgement pretty much tells you what's happening.
Bottom line?
Use Alexa to gain insight, along with Compete.com,
Quantcast.com and Google Site Trends, to get an overall
picture of the traffic that other sites generate, not yours. After
all, you know your traffic, right?
